To celebrate the official collection of the Fundred Dollar Bill Project in Louisville, 21c Museum will host Mel Chin for a discussion of his work in his professional career. The Louisville collection of Fundreds will occur immediately following the talk. At 7pm, the veggie-oil powered armored truck will collect all the bills that the Louisville community has made and be on its way towards Congress. A printable bill with instructions is available here, make a Fundred now and bring it to the artist talk!

Mel Chin will speak about his approach to conceptual work. Originally an artist working in sculpture and installation with many successful exhibitions in museums across the country, Chin began to work in less object-based media. Instead, he prefers to make as little with his own hands as possible, he currently works in ways that incorporate social justice, political awareness, ecological consciousness, and the ability of art to transcend convention.

The most recent of these works is the Fundred Dollar Bill Project, a nation-wide endeavor that is environmental activism and a social cause driven by a collaborative art project. Everyone is invited to make a Fundred Dollar Bill; the sum of these original art pieces will be taken to Congress in an exchange for funding to cleanse the lead-contaminated soil threatening nearly 100,000 youth in the city of New Orleans, bringing attention to a nationwide issue.
