Each year the International Contemporary Art Foundation hosts its only annual fundraiser,
the always outrageous Pajama Party. As one of Louisville's most exciting charitable
events, the Pajama Party is a night of spectacular entertainment, outstanding cuisine,
and great fun. In the spirit of collaboration, this year ICAF is embracing our local
arts community and sharing the spotlight with six local organizations, specially
chosen for their unique enrichment to our community. Rather than pay a set ticket
price, party-goers are encouraged to donate early and often, in hopes that the PJ
party will bring awareness and help fund the smaller organizations that we're so
fortunate to have in our local community.
The PJ Party will kick-off at 6:30 pm on Friday, June 12th. Come dressed in your
favorite PJs, Red Feathers, or go all out Black Tie-style. Each ticket includes
two complimentary drinks and a spectacular presentation of delicacies prepared by
Proof on Main's award-winning Chef Michael Paley. Entertainment will include performances
from outstanding protégés of the honored arts organizations as well
as new and unique international performers, which have become the hallmark of this
extraordinary annual event.
Nonprofit Local Organizations
As fundraising for the arts is now more important than ever, the Pajama Party will
benefit six local nonprofit arts organizations. To reserve your tickets, make a
donation to the organization(s) of your choice (below) and RSVP to
pjparty@21cmuseum.org to have your guest's name(s) added to the list. Space
is limited, so donate today!
As an added bonus, donors of $500 or more per person will be designated Emperor Penguins and
will receive the Royal Treatment - complimentary signature libations, reserved seating,
and special limited edition gift.
The Kentucky Shakespeare Festival is the oldest free independently-operating Shakespeare
festival in the nation. It began with the desire of actor, director and producer
C. Douglas Ramey in the late 1950s to bring the works of William Shakespeare to
the neighborhoods surrounding historic Old Louisville. The vision has grown tremendously,
and the Festival now serves the Commonwealth at large.
The mission of the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival is to enrich the community through
accessible, professional, theatre experiences that educate, inspire and entertain
people of all ages. The Festival's free productions in the heart of Louisville's
preservation district serve 7,000 to 12,000 individuals each summer, reflecting
the organization's belief that art is for everyone.
Louisville Youth Orchestra
www.lyo.org
Founded in 1958, the Louisville Youth Orchestra provides an extraordinary musical
experience for young people from grade school through age 21. The LYO is made up
of four orchestras, two elementary string programs, and various ensembles in which
students advance according to their own musical progression and interests.
The mission of the Louisville Youth Orchestra is to provide high quality musical
experiences and the opportunity of performing for the benefit of the community and
its young musicians regardless of race, creed or economic circumstances. There are
nearly 350 musicians from 60 schools and 15 counties in the Louisville and Southern
Indiana metro area.
Founded in 1976, Blue Apple Players is a nationally acclaimed nonprofit, theater
company producing original musicals and educational theater programs for young audiences.
Entertaining and inspiring, programs reach across social, economic, and geographical
boundaries and use the power of drama to ignite children’s imaginations and change
lives.
Blue Apple tours over 150 performances of its award-winning original musicals each
year, reaching nearly 100,000 youth throughout a ten state region. An inventory
of 36 original musicals addresses topics ranging from teen pregnancy and adolescent
suicide to musicals based on American history and traditional folk tales.
Bunbury Theatre Company was founded in 1985 as a not-for-profit theatre company.
Beginning in a tobacco warehouse on Baxter Avenue, Bunbury soon became an alternative
theatre force and developed a 99 seat theatre in what is now the 21c Museum Hotel.
For 13 seasons Bunbury performed to sold-out audiences on the corner of 7th and
Main. In 2007 Bunbury completed a renovation project at the historic Henry Clay
Building on the corner of Third and Chestnut. The new state of the art Bunbury Theatre
seats 144 and is located on the third floor.
Bunbury Theatre strives to create enriching, diverse, live theatrical experiences
for the community and its artists in an intimate and professional setting. Comedies,
dramas and musicals are performed year round.
In 1976, Walden Theatre was created to give young people the opportunity to grow
and develop through the comprehensive study of theatre. Today, Walden provides theatre
education to 11,000 students annually through its nationally-renowned Conservatory
& Outreach Programs, and creates over 98 public performance opportunities for
students – ranging from Shakespeare and Shaw, to Aesop, to contemporary world-premieres,
to student-written plays.
Walden offers something for everyone: introductory theatre experiences for beginning
actors, conservatory classes for youth with serious theatre interests, and curriculum-based
outreach in schools & community centers. Its continuing success is built on
respect for young people’s enormous ability to learn and achieve, and grounded in
its respect for theatre as a mirror on the world.
