Guerra de la Paz

2008 Pajama Party Artist Donor

Guerra de la Paz is an artist collaborative of the Cuban artists Neraldo de la Paz and Alain Guerra. The artists, working from their studio in Miami’s Little Haiti, often use unwanted clothing to make unique sculptures like The Family, 2005 (pictured above, middle), currently in the Tangled Up In You exhibition at 21c Museum. The artists have exhibited throughout the US and are in significant collections and museums such as the Sattchi Collection in London.

The artists will donate a unique series of framed photographs entitled Family Portraits, 2008 (pictured above, right) for the Pajama Party. In this photo series based off the sculpture currently on display at 21c, the artists have constructed a family made from disgarded garments. The artists use this clothing as a conceptual DNA that symbolizes the family’s shared attributes while giving each a unique personality. In this assemblage of reclaimed materials, the artists question the identity and bonds of a nuclear family and the implied connection that each family shares. The photo series and table is available for $10,000.21. Reservations can be made by contacting Christy Bramble at cbramble@21chotels.com or by calling 502.582.5000.
