Adam Stennett
2008 Pajama Party Artist Donor
Esquire Magazine called this New York bachelor one of the "New Rogues…
shaking up the world of modern art." Adam Stennett, no stranger to 21c, exhibited
his video work in the inaugural exhibition Hybridity in 2006. Stennett’s
paintings, drawings, and videos often depict the underbelly of society or nature.
In his most recent series Off the Grid of 2008 exhibited at Glenn Horowitz
Bookseller in Hampton, NY, Stennett, following in the Dutch tradition of still lifes,
uses such tradition to depict objects loaded with signs of subculture.
In Stennett’s current work, the artist uses traditional still-lifes, often aimed
to calm by suggesting comfort and domestic tranquility—but like his videos and paintings
in 21c’s collection, his work subverts such conventionalism.
Stennett will be donating Opium Tea Vintage (above right) to the Pajama
Party. The artist’s table is available for $10,000.21. Reservations can be made
by contacting Christy Bramble at
cbramble@21chotels.com or by calling 502.582.5000.
