To kick off Louisville's new composers series, 21c presents Hear + Now.
The evening will feature the album release of Book of Leaves by Rachel
Grimes, followed by Chamber and Electronic works by Daniel Gilliam, Lou Moseson,
Sara MacLean, Malcolm Turner, and Jacob Gotlib.
About the Composers

Rachel Grimes
Book of Leaves is the first solo piano album by the musician and marks
a new level in her artistic evolution. Inspired by the interaction with the outdoors,
Book of Leaves is a collection of impressionist chapters woven together
with chordal themes and field recordings. Grimes, a member of Rachel's, has been
a guest on albums by the Frames, Sonora Pine, Tara Jane O'Neil, Shannon Wright,
Shipping News, and has performed numerous times with her solo piano work. She has
recently completed a residence with SITI Co. at Columbia University and is currently
finalizing the full album with King's Daughters & Sons due out this fall.

Daniel Gilliam
The Director of WUOL 90.5 FM, Daniel Gilliam is a composer from Louisville, KY.
His music has been performed by ensembles ranging from the Louisville Youth Choir
to the Turin Philharmonic in Italy. He is a member of the American Music Center,
Pi Kappa Lambda and ASCAP.

Jacob Gotlib
Jacob Gotlib was born and raised in Louisville, KY and has written music for instruments,
electronics, dance, and multimedia. His music is regularly played at festivals around
North America and Europe, most recently at the Small Music Theatre (Athens, Greece),
SEAMUS 2009 (Ft. Wayne, IN), The New York City Electronic Music Festival, and the
Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart, Germany).

Louis Moseson has played chamber music with the Jewish Community Center and the
Southern Baptist Seminary orchestras. |
